Company history Tony is a leading figure in the Canadian Mortgage Industry. Best known for his many guest mortgage columns for the Financial Post over a 16 year period, Tony also co-founded two of the most successful mortgage companies in Canadian history.
Following 16 years in the Canadian Banking system with three of the major Chartered Banks, Tony entered the industry in 1989, and started Northwood Mortgage in 1990, followed by Basis 100 Inc in 1997. Northwood has since become the largest independent mortgage broker in Southern Ontario, and Basis 100 intellectual property was sold in 2006 for almost a quarter of a billion dollars.
In early 2006 Tony published an important article for the Financial Post that brought the "tax deductible mortgage" approach to a wide Canadian audience. Since that time, he and his partners at WealthBuilders have searched the investment landscape to identify investments that produce strong long term cash flows ideal for achieving rapid pay-down of debt, and deductible reinvestment of home equity, fully backed by a growing asset base. Values WealthBuilders Mortgage Inc. is dedicated to helping Canadians achieve financial independence in a fraction of the time they would expect if they continued on their current bank-driven path. Our focus is on dramatic improvement of overall family finances, with an equally dramatic beneficial impact on the prosperity of the customer. What makes WealthBuilders Mortgage Inc. different? WealthBuilders Mortgage Inc. is unique in that we offer a "financial GPS" system with every mortgage, that focuses the client on maximizing the proportion of their disposable income that is applied to reducing debt. Unlike other mortgage companies, our focus is not on a mortgage transaction, but the financial health and well-being of the client. And unlike major banks, we do not also "sell" our own financial products, but we provide clients with information and choices concerning products we believe will make the key difference in their financial lives. Our philosophy is that by guiding our clients to prosperity we will maximize the client base through referrals from happy customers. Why TDMP? TDMP is a key component of what we believe is the ultimate wealth-building strategy. By actually executing the monthly transactions required to convert non-deductible "bad debt" to deductible "good debt", while rapidly growing net worth, TDMP takes away the need for the client to be involved in the nitty-gritty of the transactions themselves, and focus on the debt eliminating disciplines so important for achieving financial independence.
